Solar insight

Maximising profits with solar energy can be challenging without access to the appropriate data. With NET2GRID's Customer Engagement solution, users can get a full overview of their solar energy production and consumption. Whether using Smart Meter or Real-Time data, users can see how much energy was produced by their solar PV system, how much was consumed, and how much was returned to the grid. We are happy to announce this is now available for all MeDa users!

TLS

All SmartBridges always had a secure connection with NET2GRID's Insight platform, based on SCoP. From now on, the devices also secure the connection with TLS.

Improved washing machine on the edge model

Improved performance of the washing machine model that runs on the hardware itself. It can now detect washing machines with higher accuracy.

Bluetooth onboarding

After the initial onboarding, the device loses its Bluetooth capability. This causes a problem when the user needs to change the Wi-Fi router. In this case, the device can't connect to the new Wi-Fi without Bluetooth. To solve this problem, the device must have special firmware that contains the Bluetooth Wi-Fi onboarding service. Users can activate this firmware by holding down the button when restarting the device to connect to a new Wi-Fi. After connecting to the new Wi-Fi, the device will update to its normal firmware.

To restart the device with Bluetooth enabled software, the user needs to restart the device while holding down the button. Once the button is released, a LED pattern will indicate whether or not the operation was successful, as follows:

  • if successful, the LED will blink red and blue quickly

  • if not successful, an error will be indicated by a simultaneous red and blue strobe.

If BLE is not available during the onboarding process, the LED code for the waiting state has changed. The LED will show this behaviour:

  • Blink blue fast, if Bluetooth is available.

  • Pulse blue when there is no Bluetooth available for onboarding

In the case that there is no Bluetooth available and the button on restart results in an error, then the user only has 2 other options for onboarding the device to a new Wi-Fi network:

  • Use the access point onboarding

  • Connect the device to the router via an ethernet cable
